A new generation of Eurocodes is on the way
A new generation of Eurocodes is under development and will be completed by 2027. In Norway, the new Eurocodes, along with their national annexes, will be published collectively at the beginning of 2028. Until then, the current generation of Eurocodes will remain the applicable standard.
The development of the second-generation Eurocodes is taking place in multiple phases, with different parts being completed progressively until 2027. Standard Norway, like other European standardization organizations, has decided to publish all parts together, including the national annexes (NA). This decision was made following thorough evaluations and dialogue with the industry.
The first-generation Eurocodes and their national annexes will remain in effect until the complete publication of the second generation in 2028. Once the new standards are issued, the first-generation standards will be withdrawn.
Available pre-standards of the second generation
To familiarize the industry with the content of the new Eurocodes, parts of the second-generation Eurocodes will be available as so-called Norwegian pre-standards (SN-EN) until 2028. These pre-standards serve as informational products and do not replace the current Eurocodes.
Preparing the industry for the future
By making these pre-standards available in advance, Standard Norway is giving the industry the opportunity to prepare for the transition to the second-generation Eurocodes. This ensures a smooth transition and allows stakeholders time to become acquainted with the updated requirements before the official launch in 2028.
Important notice for subscribers
The pre-standards are standalone products and are not automatically included in existing Eurocode subscriptions. They must be purchased separately and added to your subscription as new products.
