NORSOK Z-001 and NORSOK Z-004 are revised and on public enquiry
The NORSOK standards are multidisciplinary documents that define lifecycle requirements for offshore and onshore oil and gas facilities. We invite the industry to comment on the drafts by 7 August (NORSOK Z-001) and 29 August (NORSOK Z-004).
NORSOK Z-001
NORSOK Z-001 is a multidisciplinary document that outlines specific requirements for engineering, fabrication, and construction deliverables.
In the 1998 edition, the document focused mainly on documents, while the revised version is more centred on information.
Key changes
The document still covers the same information as the previous edition, but each requirement is now justified, and expected deliveries are described through a more systematic process.
The document is expected to replace most of the company-specific requirements for lifecycle information.
The content is intended to be included in a technical information database at a later stage, where it will be updated regularly.

NORSOK Z-004
NORSOK Z-004 on 2D CAD symbols is a multidiscipline document containing CAD symbols for 2D representation of plants and assets.
The standard has been revised to include the current symbols used in the Norwegian oil and gas industry.
Key changes
All discipline specific legends are revised, and subsea legends have been added.
Please note that the associated CAD files to the 1998 edition are not yet updated.
The 2D CAD symbols may be published in a database and maintained on a regular basis.
All disciplines are invited to review the updated legends. The legends are made available in pdf format to facilitate the discipline reviews.
