NORSOK standard for mechanical completion and commissioning is revised and on public enquiry
NORSOK Z-007 Mechanical completion and commissioning, is revised and open for public enquiry. We invite the industry to provide their comments and feedback by 29 May.
NORSOK Z-007 deals with mechanical completion and commissioning of equipment and materials for the petroleum industry. The standard was last published in 2015 and is now in a revision process to ensure its relevancy to the industry.
NORSOK Z-007 describes:
- Principles, structure, guidelines, and methods to ensure that areas, equipment, and systems are controlled and prepared through the execution of mechanical completion, and through commissioning activities until safe initial start-up.
- Mechanical completion: Inspection, testing, and verification that installations are constructed in accordance with drawings and specifications and are ready for start-up.
- Commissioning: Functional testing and preparation of systems for safe operation.
- Phases in the completion process, including planning, engineering, supplier contributions, and handover.
- Documentation, certificates, and checklists (e.g. MC and commissioning dossiers/packages).
Main changes to the standard
The revised standard features an updated format, with the document reorganized to reflect the workflow of mechanical completion and commissioning, including follow-up and execution.
Each discipline has its own requirements based on extensive experience from the oil and gas industry.
