NORSOK R-005 has been revised, and is now published in Norwegian
NORSOK R-005 Safe use of lifting and transport equipment in onshore petroleum plants has undergone a significant revision. These are the main changes.
The revised standard was published in December 2024 and ensures that the standard is updated on technical development and gained experience in the industry as required to maintain a high level of security in lifting operations. This is the first revision of the standard since 2007.
NORSOK R-005:2024 applies to the safe use of lifting and transport equipment used in connection with operations in petroleum plants onshore. The standard does not apply to manual lifting where no lifting equipment is used. It does not cover the use of fall protection equipment.
Main changes
This edition includes changes that the stakeholders in the industry themselves have further developed since revision 1. At the same time, the standard clarifies new equipment categories to which the standard applies.
NORSOK R-005 is also harmonized with NORSOK R-003 where relevant.
To list all changes compared to edition 1, July 2007 would be too extensive, however the following regarding Annex B is emphasized:
Annex B, Training requirements, is re-written and extensive changes are implemented.
Table B.1, Competence requirements, now only contain requirements for these roles:

The training shall be in accordance with training plans made available on the websites of the Norwegian Ocean Industry Authority (Havtil) and the Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority (Arbeidstilsynet).
