NORSOK M-506 was last published in 2017 and is currently on systematic review (pre-enquiry). Standards Norway wants to get the industry's opinion and arguments on whether M-506 should be revised, withdrawn, internationalized or confirmed unchanged, and please include relevant arguments for your proposal.

The pre-enquiry does not request details, but requests information about subjects that should be updated, are out of date, are incorrect or should or should be added as a result of technological developments since the previous publication. The pre-enquiry also asks candidates to participate in the revision work if the standard is decided to be revised. If possible please nominate a person.

The scope of  NORSOK M-506:2017 states:
"Denne NORSOK-standarden viser en anbefalt praksis for beregning av korrosjonshastigheter i hydrokarbonproduksjon og prosessanlegg der CO2 er det korrosive mediet."
“This NORSOK standard presents a recommended practice for calculation of corrosion rates in hydrocarbon production and process systems where the corrosive agent is CO2.”
