NORSOK M-121 is revised and on public enquiry
NORSOK M-121 specifies aluminium products that may be used for selected offshore applications. The standard has now been revised, and we invite the industry to comment on the draft by 11 February 2026.
NORSOK M-121 concerns aluminium structural materials, and specifies aluminium products that may be used for selected offshore applications. The standard contains material data sheets that specify the chosen options and additional requirements for these products.
The standard has now been reviewed and updated as it has been ten years since the previous publication.
Main changes
These are the main changes to the standard:
- The alloy AW-5383 is introduced as a material option equivalent to the existing AW-5083, in accordance with changes in NS-EN 1090.
- The standard has been harmonized with NORSOK M-001 Material selection.
- The scope of definitions has been expanded.
- The MDSs have been updated.
- Previously, MDS M-M05 consisted of two separate pages, which have now been consolidated into one page.
The revision committee consists of experts from Leirvik, Marine Aluminium, Akersolutions, Aibel, Equinor og Hydro Aluminium.
