Information meeting regarding new standards ISO 20815 and ISO 19008
ISO/TC 67/WG 4 has revised and developed two new standards between 2023 and 2026. At this information meeting on 12 October, the project leaders will give a brief presentation of the standards and their main content.
ISO/TC 67/WG 4 is a working group under ISO/TC 67 responsible for standardization activities related to reliability and cost in the oil and gas industry, including petrochemical and lower-carbon energy activities.
The meeting will provide an introduction to the two new standards and the work behind their development.

ISO 20815:2026 Oil and gas industries including lower carbon energy — Production assurance and reliability management
The scope of the standard is to specify requirements and guidance for production assurance and reliability management as applicable to the assets and operations associated with exploration drilling, exploitation, processing and transport of petroleum, petrochemical and natural gas resource. It also supports production assurance and reliability management for lower carbon energy assets and associated operations, e.g. carbon capture and storage, hydrogen, ammonia, and wind farms.
Together with ISO 14224, ISO 15663 and ISO/TS 3250 it also provides reliability terminology of key importance for various analysis usage.
The new 2ndd edition issued in June 2026 contains various updates that will be summarized in the information meeting.
This standard is intended for users such as authorities, operators, contractors, vendors, consultants, and research & universities.
ISO 19008:2026 Oil and gas industries including lower carbon energy — Standard cost coding system
The scope of the standard is to specify a standard cost coding system (SCCS) that classifies costs, work hours and quantities for the assets and operations associated with the oil and gas industries including lower carbon energy activities.
The SCCS is designed to provide a uniform coding basis for cost and quantity data in a life cycle perspective – from estimate preparation to cost management and collecting historical data to facilitate benchmarking, analysis and consistent comparison across projects and assets.
The new 2nd edition issued in June 2026 also contains classifications such as hydrogen, ammonia, carbon capture and storage, wind farms, and OPEX.
This standard is intended for users such as authorities, owners, operators, contractors, suppliers, and benchmarking companies.
