Amendment to NORSOK U-100 on public enquiry

NORSOK U-100 defines basic requirements for personnel, equipment and systems for diving operations within the petroleum industry. An amendment for the standard is now on public enquiry. Standards Norway invites the industry to review the amendment draft by 5 February.

NORSOK U-100:2023 defines basic requirements for personnel, equipment and systems for diving operations within the petroleum industry. The main focus of the standard is diving down to 180 msw.

The new amendment called NORSOK U-100:2023/A1:2026 contains

  • revised text regarding monitoring
  • added clause regarding offshore periods during cross-border activities
  • added clause regarding diving supervisors
  • modified description of DP systems when operating in the vicinity of an offshore structure
  • edited text for the description of disinfection of BA (breathing apparatus) equipment
  • edited provisions for respiratory protective equipment
  • relocated clause regarding requirements for emergency preparedness equipment and umbilical length
  • added requirements for surface orientated and bell diving supervisors
  • minor corrections and changes throughout the document
